work just replaced my monitor with a 32inch 4k dell display, i kept the scaling at 1080 like my previous 27inch, however after a week now i realized perhaps the text is not as sharp since i'm getting lower dpi and my eyes get fatigued more often, i kinda bandaged this by scaling it to 1440p but now the texts are smaller and i have to sit closer to read comfortably, my question, is my fatigue related purely to the lower dpi scaling issue? or something else entirely, for these with 32inch 4k users out there, which scaling do you personally use.

When I was using a 32” 4K, I had the scaling set to looks-like 3008x1692.
Looked pretty decent.

But you are correct that blowing up a 4K display to 32” will notably reduce the PPI.

wow 1692, i had to squint pretty hard to use that.

My eyes aren't super good either, but 2560x1440 at 32" was too big. Can't imagine trying to use 1920x1080. Even at 27", I would find text at 1920x1080 too big.

I do have things set to 2560x1440 on my Studio Displays, however, and it seems just right. And sharp as a tack.

i just came back from the apple store to check out the XDR pro, from what i witness, even at 1080 on my 32inch, the icon size matches the XDR's default setting. however the sharpness is less desirable.

Default (standard 2x “retina” scaling) for the XDR is 3008x1692.
Same as what I had my 32” 4K set to.
There is no way that text looks the same size on a 32” 4K at 1920x1080.

I am using a Dell U3223QE at 3008x1692 and to be honest I am retired and I don't have problems with eyestrains.
Image and text are sharp.

I was using the same on my Dell 32" 4K. Looked fine.
Text was about the same physical size at 3008x1692 as it is on my 27" 5K at 2560x1440. The 4K isn't as sharp as the 5K, but who's expecting it to be (4K vs. 5K, obviously).
