I wasn’t happy with my AWU1’s battery health anymore after and was itching to upgrade. No regrets since I traded in plus work benefits offsets most of the cost of the new watch.

Boy, was the initial setup painful as hell though.
-Had to hard reset multiple times because the new watch kept getting stuck on the spinning circle and/or the Apple Logo.
-When it finally rebooted, it started up with Low Power Mode on even though it was at 100%, then it wouldn’t connect to my phone
-Cell plan wouldn’t transfer and had to take dozens of attempts - would just keep cycling the transfer process over and over
-The software update wouldn’t install, took a few tries

Eventually finally got things up and running. Enjoying it so far, performance does feel faster and appreciating the battery life. I do wonder though, is the O2 results supposed to show up on your vitals in the morning? I know it was removed for a long time, though I always had it on the AWU1. Was it added back when Apple re-added O2 support?

I did the same - U1 to U3. Though I'm not in the US so I kept on-board Sp02 and can't answer about your vitals question. I do see it collected in my vitals but different system.

When you configured the new watch, did you have it on your wrist? My process was seamless, but I remember when I upgrade from TO my Ultra 1 from my previous watch I had the U1 on my desk and the previous watch on my wrist and I'm sure that this complicated the whole transfer. I do recall my U1 move was as problematic as your U3 move.

But again my U3 move was seamless (thankfully!!) and I did keep my U3 on my wrist the entire time.

Yep, my AWU3 was same experience (first time ever having problems for me) - although I counted 9 failures to pair before it worked, and then I had to still reset once again for it to work - there was definitely something going on release day - or an iOS 26 issue because I've had Apple Watches since the AW3 and never had problems like this before.

But everything is fine now. Loving the AWU3 - noticeably faster than my 2 year old AWU2 - screen is easier to see - the screen also seems to be less reflective to me. Battery life is just a tiny bit better.

I too had the watch sitting on the charger the entire time - <shrug> - but I thought I've always done that.

And yeah o2 results show up on vitals - default to taking readings when sleeping. I have the app on the AWU3 too ? <shrug>

No issue transferring to
u3 from u1. SO2 shows up on phone sleep tracking. I use AutoSleep which also shows more details on sleep apnea results.
