Hello, I upgraded a Mac Pro 1.1 (3GHz) to Mavericks after installing a PC radeon 7950. I use the optical drive molex to power one of the card's PCIe connector.
I'm not sure if it's related, but the superdrive (sony optiarc) does not work after the Mac is put to sleep. This freezes the disk utility as well as FCPX. I have to restart the Mac to fix the issue.
I have another Mac Pro in which I also use the superdrive molex to power the GPU card (a radeon 4870), but it doesn't have this issue (I think this one has a pioneer superdrive).
I have flashed the drive's firmware, but it didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas/recommendations?
(I could use a proper PCIe connector for Mac Pro GPUs, but these are a bit hard to find).

Thanks.
