Hi everyone! I upgraded the RAM in my 2011 MacBook Pro by removing the existing 2 2 GB modules and replacing them with 2 4GB modules. Under the memory tab under About This Mac it still says that only one of the module ports is being used and the computer still has only 4GB RAM. Is this normal?

That's not normal.

Try reseating both modules first (just in case), then swapping them around. If one of the modules consistently fails to register, I'd look into getting a replacement.

So I should be able to see that both RAM ports are being used? I’ll swap them and reseat them and see what happens. It wouldn’t be that expensive ve to replace them if necessary. I just hope it’s not the ports themselves.
