Upgraded to Leopard, Can't Repair Disk Permissions

Upgraded my powerbook 1.67 DDR to leopard this weekend. Now when I try to repair or verify disk permissions disk utility hangs up and gets stuck. I think this has been discussed here before but typing "leopard" and "repair permissions" into the search engine results in too many threads to pore through. Any ideas before I sit on the phone with my good friends at AppleCare?

For me it works if I leave it, just do something else for a while...even if the progress bar doesn't move

How long have you left it running for, on 10.5.0 on my iMac it would take about 10 minutes to complete. In 10.5.1 it only takes 4 minutes.

I would say the longest I have let it run is 15 minutes. I guess I'll let it do its thing while I'm at work later today. Let's hope seven hours does the trick!
