I have a 2.4 Black Macbook with 2gb ram. This is a family computer and used for web browsing, video streaming and word processing at best. It has however gotten really slow over time and pauses when opening new browsers and apps. It currently has a 250gb hard drive, but we are only using 70gb. I am definitely upgrading to 4gb of ram. Now for the question: Should I upgrade to a 128gb SSD or 250gb 7200 rpm drive? The SSD drive is about $40-$50 more. Will the performance difference be worth the investment for our use?

Personally, I'd never say no to an SSD. But i suppose it all depends on how picky you and you family are. You'll see an insane speed boost with an SSD, but for browsing, videos and word processing, i doubt you'll actually need it.

My Macbook Core Duo got insanely quick, even if sata 1 bottlenecks the SSD.
