Upgrading 2008 MacBook

So today i picked up a total bargain I picked up a 2008 white MacBook for buttons really, however now I would like to upgrade the hell out of it with the max ram(4 or 6) and either a fast HD or a fast SSD, size of the drive isn't important as I'm using this as a desktop machine with a TB External plugged in, so just a fast(cheap) SSD to run Mac OS X and Windows on (probably 64gb). Anyone got any experience in this? thanks

6 GB is the maximum amount of RAM, and any 2.5" SSD or HDD with a maximum height of 9.5 mm will work.

I assume the MacBook can't take ddr3?

Yes. The guide I linked to specifies what RAM you can use.

Just wondering because there is £10 4gb single module of Ram on Amazon but its DDR3 unfortunately.

I went ahead and bought this, 5GB of Ram should be enough for now, will look for a SSD later.
