Hello, I am upgrading my mid 2012 MBP running high sierra to SSD tomorrow, going with the 500 gig Samsung SSD 850 EVO aside from a backup on my own external HDD, anything else I should do? the store will be installing it and transferring the data from old to new.

Thanks!

[doublepost=1513110575][/doublepost]I hate to ask, but how much does that cost?

I'm considering doing the same with mine, do tell how it goes.

Consider having them replace the hard drive cable at the same time.
That’s a common failure point with that model and if they’re going to be in there anyway.......

I would not change the cable unless there is a problem as third party cables are cheap and replacing it is very easy.

Although a cable failure is not uncommon, it doesn't always happen. If you want to be safe, change the cable and keep the original as a backup.
