I, too, have a 2013 MBP. It has 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM. It cost $1500 six years ago and still runs great today.
The $1800 13" MBP now on sale has... 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM. Now, obviously those components are a lot faster than the six-year-old versions in mine, but it actually costs $300 more to get the same storage and RAM as six years ago. That's... not how this is supposed to work.
Mine also has a better keyboard, MagSafe, and ports I use every day.
If my current MBP were to die tomorrow, I'm not sure what I'd do because I love macOS, but to my mind, the value is not there - at all - on Apple's current lineup of laptops.
