I don't want to be create yet another "how to jailbreak" thread- I realize that there is a lot of info on jailbreaking available. I've done it before and understand the process. I have a 3gs, currently jailbroken on ios 4.33 and baseband 5.16.02. I know that it is possible to preserve by baseband while still upgrading to ios 5.1. I do, however, have a couple of questions.

  • Since I am already jailbroken at ios 4.33, do I simply run pwnage, redsnow, etc and install ios 5.1 as if I wasn't previously jailbroken? Or does the fact that I am currently jailbroken mean that I need to use a different process?

  • Are there any negatives to upgrading a 3gs to 5.1? Has anyone run into major slow down or battery problems?

  • What will happen to my current Cydia apps? Will they be automatically restored, or will I need to re-download them after the upgrade?

Thanks for your help!
