I upgrade each year and deal with the ache of transferring data , setting up apps. My 14 PM was replaced yesterday and had to do it again!

I use the direct phone to phone transfer, but have to re-aunethticate all cards in Apple wallet, reset all my financial and banking apps, and get back into about 40/50 others apps which were logged out after transfer. It’s took over 5 hours.

surely there is, or should be a better way? any tips?

No idea why it takes you so long, I normally transfer everything in an hour with full access to my apps. I also use Apple Pay and banking apps too. Are you passwords not saved on the cloud as part of your Apple ID?

I do the same every year and it only takes around an hour for me to complete. All I had to do was re-enter the 3 digit code for my credit cards. It went fast and smooth and is a great improvement over using the cloud or a computer backup. I got a lot of music and gigs of images and everything moved perfectly.

5h sounds really long time, could it be be bad wifi due to a lot of users and it gets throttled down for you?? They actually mentioned this for me in the Apple Store when I did the transfer.

It was a bit slower this time for me too, but for me it was the actual backup I needed to run in the Apple Store that took 3h… For some weird reason the auto backup was off 🤷‍♂️ and had to do it all over again, had ca 200 gigs on a 13 512GB. (If any of you out there have heard about auto backups turning off by it self please let me know, small theory of mine is that it might have something to do with a recently made international trip messing with the settings…) Otherwise, the move itself took 1,5h, and the transfer of esims didn’t work of course so had to go and get that fixed before going home.
