Now that my 10.5.8 Macs are downright geriatric, i need to get things at least up to 10.6. And thanks to Cupertino forcing me to update my hardware by making OS10.7 work on processors 3 years old or newer, I have a conundrum.
Ebay is proving the law of supply and demand once again thanks to fewer-than-wanted 10.5 to 10.6 upgrade discs (now around $100ea). My question is whether someone with a 1.66 C2D can do anything besides pay the premium? And because my daughter's 13-inch MBP came with 10.6.7 I am wondering if there is any way that I can install it on my 1.66-era Macs (2 MBs and a Mini)? If a clean install is possible is there any way to do that and then migrate the data to the new installation? If I remember correctly, specific OS disks only work on the hardware it came with.
