Our trusty 2008 MacBook is running fine on 10.5.8, but a few applications such as Firefox and Chrome have dropped support for anything earlier than Snow Leopard. I plan on upgrading to Snow Leopard, but I'm curious if anyone has experience putting Lion on an early 2008 MacBook. Is the upgrade to 10.7 worth the additional $30? Will my older Macbook do well running it? It's got 2GB of RAM. Thoughts?

I don't have that particular model macbook, but running lion on 2gb ram sounds horrendous to me....

I think you'll find snow leopard to be a nice upgrade.

I have the same model (April 2008) and recommend Snow Leopard. We can go to Lion, but not Mountain Lion. Until some of my favorite software requires Mountain Lion or later, I plan to keep the Macbook for a while longer.
