upgrading early 2011 MBP 15" LCD to HiRes question

I plan to upgrade my 1440x900 lcd to a Hi Resolution panel myself. Would I need to reinstall the OS (10.7.3)? Or would it just recognize the new screen once everything is put back together?

yeah i am very interested in this as well, please update us if you are able to do it. i honestly don't think it is a common enough practice that anyone here can help.

It is more difficult than changing the internal hd but it is pretty doable. The hi-res panels are only around $120 on ebay.
