I just wanted to have a little discussion. It seems to me a lot of people (maybe just on this forum) upgrade EVERY year to the next generation iPhone. Some of them, when they upgrade are disappointed because it wasn't the upgrade they expected or because it's too similar to the previous generation. In my opinion, upgrading every year makes things not as exciting...here is why:

Say you have the 4. The 4S comes out, you upgraded, even though you probably shouldn't have. Then you regret it. You realize it's essentially a 4 on steroids with a better camera and Siri. You feel you wasted your money. The 5 comes out, you upgrade. It's 2X as fast as your previous phone, bigger screen and LTE capable. It's an upgrade, sure...but is it as big of an upgrade from the 4S, as it would have been coming from the 4?

Then look at it this way...

You have the 4. The 4S comes out. You realize it's a 4 on steroids with a better camera and Siri. You keep your 4. The 5 comes out. It has a bigger screen, is 4X as fast as your 4, has a better camera, has Siri, has LTE, better wifi chip, thinner, lighter, etc. You upgrade to the 5 and you're completely amazed at how much of an upgrade it is from the 4.

Do you guys catch my drift? I'm not trying to say that it's stupid to upgrade every year, or that you're making a bad decision getting a new iPhone every year... but do you see why every 2 years makes the experience of upgrading better?

Just something that came to mind. I know that since this is a forum with many tech enthusiasts and geeks (whether we admit it or not :p) so it's more common amongst us to upgrade every year. I suppose the average consumer probably does every 2 years...
