Hi everyone,

I currently have a 2nd gen ipod touch with 3.1.2 Jailbroken. I am planning to update to iOS 4.0 official firmware. My question is........Is there any safety precaution I should take to ensure a safe upgrade?

The reason I ask this is because in the past my brother has tried to upgrade from Jailbroken firmware to an official firmware which led to the ipod touch running into an "error code 6". We have searched all over the internet, we DFUed, we tried to restore to factory condition, believe it or not none of that fixed it. Fortunately it was still under warranty, we brought it to the Apple Store and they gave him a fresh new one from the back.

Sorry for the long story, so back to the question and thanks in advance for your help.

You might want to restore it to an un-jailbroken state so that theres no risk. :)
