Morning folks, I've searched the threads but not seen much information about upgrading from a slightly older 6+ compared to the 6S.

I was thinking about holding out on the hopes that they may do a hardware upgrade this year but that 200 dollar trade in potential has me wondering if it might not be a bad idea to upgrade now. For preference, I prefer the larger screen cause I mostly read/ play games on the device. Upgrade wise, I'm looking at the XR for price and XS+ for screen size, (just how superior is OLED over the XR's LDC screen anyways?)

The camera, eh, I can take it or leave it, so it's not really a deciding factor. So overall, I'm probably a very basic user.

How much of an improvment would the XS+ be over the XR? What about value per $? I did see a thread mentioning that the XR screen isn't as crisp as an 8, is that an issue or still an upgrade over the 6+ I currently use?

Advice would be welcomed, thanks!

XR screen would be same as 6/7 screen but a downgrade from plus screen.
The only things favourable for XR are the battery and 'bright-light' photos

The XR is an awesome upgrade for 6+ users. You’ll get triple the amount of RAM, huge jump in performance and camera (both front and back), and a lot more. Plus, you won’t miss some features like 3D Touch since the 6/6+ didn’t have it to begin with.

I’d say if you are ready for an upgrade, upgrade. The 6+ is the iPad 3 of iPhones. It was stuttering even at launch. The 1GB RAM is no longer usable in 2019. Whatever minuscule screen advantage on the 6+ means nothing when the overall user experience is just poor for 2019.

XS isn't worth the money
I've both X and XR in the family and would suggest X (reasonable deals available now)
It has right size and is weighted perfectly. Screen is a million times better than XR

I’d say upgrade. Whichever phone you choose would be a nice bump in performance and hardware. Go see the phones and get some hands on with each one of them and see what you prefer. There is a considerable price difference between the Xr and the XS line so you’ll need to decide if they are worth the extra money..

Thanks for the suggestions all, I'll probably check out the phones at a store later today.

Let us know your thoughts after checking out the new iPhones.
For many, it's hard to go from a Plus sized screen to a smaller R/XS screen

XR is larger in terms of screen size compared to 6 Plus.

I've guided a few 6 Plus users and they've all been happy with the XR.
