Upgrading from CD to C2D, impossible?

I am currently in an argument with someone now because they told me it was not impossible for a human to do this upgrade. Judging by what I've read on this forum no one has even tried it. Am I right is saying that it is impossible for a human to do it?

its possible to do it on Mac mini's (and possibly iMacs??), but not the mac portable line.
