Going to upgrade to a SSD and was wondering how I transfer all my files.
After I instal and boot from CD do I install from migration assistance from a time machine back up? Will I have to reinstall my apps or will that take care of all the for me?

I would get an external enclosure for your HDD and use Disk Utility to back up that drive to your SSD, if you have the space. They're like $10 from Newegg.

I've never done it from Time Machine so I can't really help on that, but clean installing wouldn't be a bad idea if you have the time in the chance that you would have to reinstall all your programs.

If you have Time Machine setup, you can just use that. Just boot from the CD, format the SSD to extended journal.

You don't even have to install the OS first... just go to the menu option up top and find restore from a backup. Point it to your backup and you'll get everything back as it was. (Assuming you are currently backing up the entire hard drive.)
