So I'm using an iMac 27" (late 2012) with i5 and 16gb ram, and would like to have a bigger screen for work. And seems switching to a used Mac Pro is a logical choice.

This is the plan:
Mac pro 4,1 update to 5,1 with Dual Xeon5680
48GB of ram (8gbx6)
SSDs
MSI or Asus GTX970 GPU (power consumption is around 160watts max, idle at 10 watts)
Samsung S34E790C monitor running at 3440x1440

Will I face any software related issues (other than the black startup screen) with the above set ups? is the power supply powerful enough to support the GTX970?

Thank you!

Power supply is not a problem. Just make sure you have OSX 10.10 or later, AND have Nvidia web drivers activated BEFORE you install the 970.
