I know you can restore your apps and everything via iTunes, but what about the data? I have a note-taking app (Notes Plus) that I use for class, which has hand-written notes as well as audio recordings of the lectures, and I would not like to lose any of that upon upgrading to the iPad 2.

How do I go about retaining all of this? The same stands for progress in games and other apps as well. Is it as simple as doing a backup of the iPad, then restoring it to the iPad 2? Or is that not possible?

If anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

When you set up the new iPad I think it will offer to add the last backup from your old iPad, this should mean all the data and apps are carried over to the new iPad.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but . . .

I found a buyer for my iPad 1 last night (£250 for 32 GB WiFi). So I sync it and wait three weeks (I'm in the UK) for iPad 2.

But how do I wipe my iPad 1 SECURELY?

If that sale doesn't go through let me know and I'll take it straight off your hands.
