I've been thinking about upgrading lately while I have the flexibility in cash. I can't afford a new macbook and thus I have to turn to used, but I don't know what a good model would be to get.

I don't mind sticking with a 13.3 screen, but I've prefer to get a 15 for the extra screen space as I don't have a desktop anymore, but used prices tend to sky rocket quickly for bigger screens.

Current uses:
Papers for school/novel writing
netflix, hulu, ect...
some aperture and photoshop use
DvD ripping

Budget:
Probably about ~600, maybe 700 if on amazon (I have gift cards I can use lol).

I'd absolutely love a new macbook, but at the same time I can't afford one and I'd love to still be able to swap out for a bigger SSD and ram to suit my needs as they grow. At least for now anyways.

If all you can do is $600 you may want to stick with the 2008 pro until you get 1 grand.
