Ok, so heres the picture, Im here on my imac 1.83 ghz, and its running tiger and I want to upgrade to leopard, im getting the disk tonight so do I just have to put the disk in and suddenly its a new os, with all my music and photos on or do I have to back stuff up?


I really dont want to loose anything btw.

A backup would be a good idea. A clone would be better. Just in case something goes wrong.

However, you can just do an "upgrade" in the installer (options for installation type) and it will leave your apps and personal files intact as well as your home directory. If you have some apps that installed files in the /System and /Library directories, you may have to re-install them as these directories are overwritten during the upgrade.
