Upgrading hard drive in uMAC Pro ... how to transfer software?

Hi, everyone ... I am new to mac so dont blame me if this questions to simple.

I just got new MacBook Pro 15 and want to upgrade HD to 500 or 640 Gb found few hd's on iFix it.

The question is: How do I install new osx on the new HD ... do I transfer files or just do fresh install (do I need OSX or it's included in the package)

I assume I'll have to format new HD, how and where do I do that...

Please help me with your advises ... thanks in advance
