Im wanting to upgrade my Hard drive from 500GB to 1/2TB. Ive looked around on the Internet for step by step guides. I was just wanting to know is it as easy what it looks. Open up your mac remove your old Hard drive and put in new one?

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple. Beginning in 2009 Apple began using HD's that had temp sensor circuitry integrated into the drives they use. Most SATA 3 drives do not have those. Some people have found hacks for bypassing this however if you choose to go this route it may negatively impact your warranty, that is assuming you care about the warranty. While it can be done there are caveats you need to be aware of. Once you know the caveats then you can decide for yourself if you want to proceed.

what is the best way of transferring everything off my old hard drive to the new one?
