Hi all,

Quick enquiry from Hong Kong - will have my BTO i7 27in iMac delivered next week - have not gone for SSD upgrade or HDD upgrade - no need to SSD in regular work environment and Apple HDD upgrade is plain expensive.

Now given OWC matter with replacing internal HDD and then contradicting comments from many, can we now actually swap iT HDD out and upgrade to 3T HDD - not sure if this will need to be Seagate or Western Digital.

Basically, I require storage, lots of it and yes, I use both Time Machine and external storage via FW800 and USB.

Upshot, I can get Apple Authorised Repair Centre to upgrade HDD for less than US$25 if I supply new HDD - I fancy a Western Digital 3T and will wait until upgrade cost will be about US$200 in total, currently in Hong Kong 3T HDD is around US$200 - so will wait for a little more price drop before I upgrade.

In the end, I hope to have a i7 27in iMac running 16gig of RAM, 3T internal HDD, 2gig VRAM and hope to keep it for three years, or, if upgrade in 2012 is good enough, move to new chipset - will sell this around Feb 2012 if know upgrade is coming within a 2 month timeframe.
