Hello everyone,

I am looking to upgrade the memory in my iMac, the iMac was the top spec iMac 27" from January 2010 - the Intel i5 4GB ram, 1TB iMac.

The question I have is, to upgrade my RAM what options do I have when it comes to purchasing new RAM.

Also, does any one know how many sticks of RAM the iMac will take?

Lastly, is there any real benefit in maximizing my iMac to 16gb RAM?

Thanks!

For multitask more memory is great. Follow the link below, this memory can be used for iMac or Macbook Pro. BTW, read the reviews.

Actually the one you linked is PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333). The Late 2009 iMacs shipped with PC3-8500 (DDR3 1066). It may be able to use the newer stuff, but I'm not sure.

I just put some of this in my Late 2009 21" iMac and it is great. It's great that RAM is getting so cheap.

Corsair has some for a bit cheaper too, but for the small difference, I decided to go with the best brand available (or so I've heard).

Thanks, I didn't see that. I think this one is what he needs.

You guys could have just used the Crucial RAM scanner for specific specs of the RAM? As well, you could also just buy whatever RAM they know is compatible with your iMac.... :)
