Upgrading iPhone 3G Firmware: 3.0.1

I just bought an iPhone 4 and want to give my old 3G to my sister and want to upgrade to the latest firmware to unlock/jailbreak.

Whats the safest firmware I can install with unlock?

I also tried to save the 3G SHSH on tiny umbrella but it can't.

Please help.

For 3G, my recommendation is to upgrade to 3.1.3, then jailbreak & unlock it so she can use it. 3G with FW 4.0 or above is very slow.
