iPhone 16 Pro Max Upgrading iPhone that is not paid off yet through Verizon

Considering upgrading to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but have 12 payments left with a remaining balance of $394.81.

  1. If I wanted to take advantage of the $1000 credit from Verizon, would I have to pay off the remaining balance?
  2. If I give my current phone to another person on our plan, will my Trade-In Device Promo Credits continue?
  3. If yes, can I use that person's current iPhone 7 Plus as a trade-in to get $1000 off on the iPhone 16 Pro Max? Can I use then use that iPhone 16 Pro Max on my line?
