I have a Core 2 Duo 2.26 with 4GB and a 7200 RPM HD.

I use it for browsing and light video/photo.

Windows 8 is a little slow and OSX is too slow for me.

should I upgrade to 8GB and an SSD? or is that money better spent towards an I7 with an :apple: SSD?

...and does it matter on my machine 3gb/s vs 6gb/s SSD?

Thanks for any advice.

I have the 2.0 '09. I upgraded to 8G ram and a SSD 64G drive. It runs as my media server. Plex, iTunes, and it's MLServer running most of the services.

I'd say do it if money is tight. If not, i5 would be enough of a jump.

I have the same mini, I upgraded to 8 gig of ram and a 640 gig HD as soon as I bought it.

It's still a decent little machine, if it's your primary computer and you don't want to replace it yet, an SSD makes sense. You can always add an SSD to the mini now and then when you buy a newer one, transplant the SSD into the newer machine.

For me, I use it primarly as a media center, so I prefer the larger amount of internal storage and slower access isn't much of an issue.
