Okay so I have the newest macbook pro (15" 2.4 200GB 2gb) I want to upgrade the ram to 4gb. I looked on newegg.com and I can get 4gb for $85. It seems way too cheap compared to the Apple memory. What is the difference? Any god suggestions on how to upgrade ram without paying the $400? Also could someone show me to a link of a good 320GB HD for MacBook Pro. I am going to go for it and follow the steps and do it myself. I just need to find one to buy. Let me know.

The difference between Apple's RAM and the RAM found on newegg is that it is much cheaper. Although if you link the page to the RAM we can double check if it is the correct RAM for your machine. Also check the warranty on the RAM. Suppliers like Crucial have a lifetime guarantee which makes it easier if your RAM goes down the crapper.

apple RAM is expensive because they have to open up the computer after its built to change the RAM (computer becomes custom). whether its worth more than double the price of RAM purchased afterwards is debatable.

i personally have 4GB of G.Skill CL4 (some say its faster).

Not forgetting Apple's RAM is supported
