I've had this macbook pro for about 2 years & it's time get the most out of it until I get a mac pro later this year(I'll keep the laptop too).

It's got a 5400rpm 120gb hd, 2gb of ram, a defective battery that isn't covered under a recall, and a superdrive that won't burn dvds.

I'm using this for video editing, so I was thinking of upping the drive to a 320gb 7200rpm, for about $120 canadian.

I was thinking about the trupower battery that fastmac sells for $99US.
Does anyone have any experience with this one? It's supposed to have a bit larger of a capacity. Or should I just buy the apple one, which will probably cost me a little more.

For ram I was wondering if I should just get a 2gb stick and take out one of the 1gb sticks for a total of 3gb, or should I buy a match pair of 2gb sticks which will get me about 3.3gb usable with my model?
The match pair will be utilizing dual channel will it not?
It's about $40CAD for a 2gb stick, I can get a match pair for $72 for Crucial or $80 for Kingston, any reason to choose kinston in this case?

As for the broken superdrive, should I just try to get a tested working one from a seller on ebay? I see one that I could get for $70CAD after shipping.
Or could I find a spare one for around the same price from some online store?

thanks
