I have a 2.16ghz 2 gbram 120 hdd late 06' mbp. As of now its 3.5 years old and still works well for my uses (web, ms office, youtube). Already needed to replace the optical drive and battery (haven't even taken the battery out of the packaging because i plan to sell it with a fresh battery).

My dilemma is this back-to-school deal in saving $$$. I wont be in college for the next summer deal so i was wondering to sell it now. ALSO, because i feel the resell value will be better. Suggestions? I am looking to go for the baseline 15" mbp.

Sounds like now is the time to move on a new MBP. Baseline 15MBP should cover your basic needs-email, web surfing, documents, etc. If you are planning on going to gaming, or graphic intensive programs, then you will probably need to boost to the i7 model but that's a $400 increase in your budget. The basic 15 should serve you well.
