Upgrading my Router

I have recently purchased a new Macbook. Is wonderful as expected.

The signal in certain points of my house is quite poor so am considering upgrading my router to a N band router.

My question is, are there any advantages of an Airport Extreme to say a Netgear DG834N which costs around £20 less that the Airport Extreme.

Also is there anyway of getting a N wireless card into my iBook G4? as i had a look on Apples site and couldn't find any of the cards with N on them.
