Newbie to Apple but just got the new MBP today...

If i purchase the mac dev ($99) once i get my MBP, can i do a clean install of Lion and skip learning snow leopard (i realize i have to use Snow leopard in order to get lion first).

Then what happens when lion is released...do i have to do a clean install and it wipes my hard drive? How does this work?

Thanks in advance for the newbie info!!

I dont believe there is a Lion beta yet. When there is, they aren't made for mainstream release. If you are asking the questions you are, then you don't want to do this. Betas are made for testers and actual developers.

What was the version of Lion that was released today? Isn't that the beta/dev version?

I'm all for testing systems and do it on my windows pc now so i dont have a problem using a beta OS as my main system.

A software tester is a paid position. How much is Microsoft paying you?

that's foolish.

Hey DAD, its called MSDN. Ever heard of it? You get to test stuff just like mac dev. Branch out and live a little.

ahh 9 to 5 mac just helped with one question in their tweet...

For those asking for Lion: $99 buys you a Mac Dev account which includes a copy of Lion when it is released.

Seems like a bargain!
