Upgrading online with Apple

I have a family plan with two upgrades eligible on phones (we have three iphones in total) other than my own. I had AT&T store swap SIM cards so I currently have the oldest phone but my phone # isn't technically eligible yet, only the other two are. I know AT&T can handle this in the store, but I need a new phone ASAP ( broken microphone on my iPhone 4) and I'm afraid they will be all out by the time I can get to the brick and mortal store in town Friday afternoon. Will I have a problem ordering online? If I give Apple one of the other eligible phone #'s, can I then swap the SIM card myself? Will AT&T store sort it out if I come in with a phone bought online through Apple? Has anyone been in this situation that can enlighten me on the policies? I've never ordered an iPhone through Apple online. Always AT&T at the store.

Apple can handle that too. If you are going to order online I would go through apple, but you better be fast.
