I believe I have the first generation MacBook Pro with 4GB of ram. Well my one question is the computer still runs plenty fast so is it worth upgrading. I just want it to last for a couple more years so I don't know if upgrading the ram is good enough or if there is more to it.
My other question is what is the process and cost of upgrading ram?

Launch Activity Monitor and look on the System Memory tab at the bottom. If your page outs and swap used is significant, you may benefit from more RAM. However, if they're low numbers or zero, you're not maxing out the RAM you currently have, so adding RAM won't make any difference in performance.
