So I have a Mac mini 2014 with the 1TB fusion drive which I replaced with a hackintosh. The Hackintosh is faster but I’m just getting bored trouble shooting. Things like not unlocking with my watch anymore, sometimes crashing when waking from sleep. Stuff like like. Plus it’s not running Big Sur as updating is nearly always a pain.
So I was thinking of going back to the Mini. I messed about with it tonight and did a clean big sur install and it feels decently quick. But it got me thinking. I have a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo NVME in my hackintosh, and a couple of 2TB, and a 5tb hard drives. I’m thinking of moving the NVME and one of the 2TB drives into the mini and having them as 2 volumes. I’ve seen adapters to enable the connecting of NVME drives and they’re not expensive. But do I have to do anything to separate the fusion between the ssd and hard drive or will this happen automatically by just swapping them?
