Upgrading the Hard Drive

I'm planning to get a 2010 15" MBP and was wondering if I'm able to buy the cheapest hard drive then upgrade it w/ my own SSD?

Yes, it is possible...

Yes, as long as that SSD is a 2.5" SSD, which most of them are anyway.

Look at page 37 ff. for instructions on how to replace the HDD.
