Upgrading to 5.0 now that 5.0.1 is out?

I haven't really been keeping up with the JB status of ios5, other than checking in every week or so. I dropped in today, and saw mention of upgrading to 5.0 while I still can, in order to hopefully preserve a 5.0 untethered JB in the future.

Now that 5.0.1 is released, how I can upgrade to 5.0? I'm currently downloading the 5.0 ispw, but not exactly sure how to proceed...

If they are no longer signing 5.0, what would happen if I tried to update to 5.0 (assuming there's a way to do that direct from the ispw)?

You will just keep getting that error message below.

Thats quick, usually apple leaves an overlap of a few days, i guess the 0xcharlie bug was bothering them..
 
It normally takes a few days. The only way to be sure if it is still being signed is to try an update.
 
Is there really not going to be a untethered 5.0.1 JB? Im still on 4.2.1 untethered and dont want to miss the iOS 5 untethered JB

How do you update to 5 and not 5.0.1?
 
I'm rushing home to update my iPhone to 5.0. My 3G iPad 2 is jailbroken with 4.3.3. Should I go ahead and update to 5.0 in hopes of the 5.0 jailbreak to release soon?
 
I was just able to update to 5.0. I built a custom no BB update ipsw with redsnow. Then DFU then updated. All good so far. Now All I have to do is the tethered JB.
 
I just updated to 5.0 on my iPod and iPad 2 to with just the regular firmware i downloaded from the net

Just google the 5.0 ipsw that you need and then download it. Go to iTunes and click option and restore select your 5.0 ipsw and restore.
 
And nobody knows if you upgrade to ios5, and tether JB, weather you will be able to untethered jb over the tethered? which could mean if i upgrade to ios5 and do the tethered jb, and cant untethered jb over it then im screwed because you cant restore back to 5 once they stop signing 5 (confusing i know)
