Hey guys! I'm on a hunt for some information, and my Google-fu is failing me.
My fiancé has a mid-2011 model iMac (27inch, i7 3.4) and he's currently got a Windows 7 64-bit partition. However, whenever he boots into that partition, or reboots, a window pops up in the corner saying he needs to upgrade the ATI driver. When we hunt for the newer driver, all we can find is what's currently installed.
This has been going on for over a year at this point. Now, games are starting to become less and less stable and are crashing on him.
I'll be the first to admit, even after a year+ with a Windows machine of my own, I still don't know much about this. I've been a Mac user since my mom brought home a brand spanking new black and white Mac Classic, and I always relied on OS updates to keep things together on my graphite DV SE iMac and my 2GHz MacBook. I can change parts out no problem, but messing around with software, especially after losing everything I had on my iMac at one point, makes me incredibly nervous.
tl;dr
Would upgrading to Bootcamp 5 help? (I believe he's currently using Bootcamp 4.) Or is there a simpler way to upgrade the drivers manually, without the "Oh God what am I doing I am not good with computers" feeling I get when I look at the (few) guides I have found?
Help a self professed Windows/Bootcamp newbie out?
