I recently ordered a new Western Digital hard drive for my 2006 blackbook. i have a time capsule so i'm assuming i can just restore my latest backup on the new HD.

are there any steps beforehand that i need to take or can i just put in the new HD, insert the OSX dvd and everything will work?

thanks for the help, can you tell me a little bit about CCC? if i make a copy of my macintosh hd and save it to my time capsule, which i wirelessly connect to, how do i locate it when i have my fresh new hard drive in?

Better solution is to backup with time machine, install the new drive, then insert your Mac OS DVD and restore from the backup. You'll have a nice clean installation with all your data and apps intact. Cloning will work, but why not take the opportunity to 'freshen' your install to remove some of the old garbage that accumulates in an OS over time.
