I am trying to upgrade to OS X and having some trouble.

I have a Powerbook G3 Series
333 MHz
320 MB Memory
current system OS 9.2.2

When I insert Mac OS X v10.2 install disc one and select it as the startup disk and restart it just stalls it will not load I hear the cd spinning, and when I eject it OS 9 kicks in and boots.

Can anyone help me?

Do you have the latest versions of firmware on there? It won't read the cd if you don't have the latest version of firmware installed on the computer. After updating the firmware it should work. If not, I'll try to think of something.

Tried firmware update but it does not look like there is one for my model

I tried the one update available for G3 and not for my computer so wonder what is wrong?

Ya it is Jaguar but not sure if that app is for powerbooks, but will look into it anyways.

Edit tried that software and it could not help me out, thanks for the link though.

I am going to ask: Is this an original CD or a "backup"? I also assume you ran the Installer from the CD...

Maybe holding the option key while booting will show if the CD is available for booting?

How much RAM do you have?

I tried installing Jaguar on some 233 iMacs and it would do the exact thing you described because there was only 64MB and not 128MB of RAM in them.

After upgrading the machines, it installed and runs perfectly.
