Upgrading to Snow Leopard Via DMG

I'm trying to upgrade from osx 10.5 to 10.6 via dmg. Is this possible by just running the mounted image or will I need to burn it?

On a side note, I have paid for the upgrade disk but lost it.

You need to burn it to a DVD or clone it to a USB flash memory thumb drive using CarbonCopyCloner while the USB flash memory thumb drive is properly formatted:

Or use disk utility to 'Restore' the DMG file to the usb drive. I do this as its quicker to boot from USB than DVD.
