Hello Everyone,

I wanted to upgrade the hard drive on my Mac Book Pro (Mid 2010) to a 256GB SSD. I currently have a 320GB HD. I wanted to know how I can do the following:

Copy only the OS to the new SSD Drive including applications.
Retain only the non essential files on the Hard Drive (pictures, videos etc.)
Remove the OS from the Hard Drive to free up space

Thank you.

1. I would do a fresh install of OS X and use migration assistant.

2. and 3. I would copy the wanted data over to an external drive. I would then wipe the 320GB HD using disk utility, then copy the data back over.
