Hi

Am I eligible to get an upgrade edition of Windows 7? I own a retail copy of Windows XP, but it isn't installed on my Mac and I've misplaced the CD - but I own the license and I have the key - so can I upgrade?

Thanks
:)

Being that you can clean install from upgrade media, you can definitely use a retail upgrade to install on your Mac. You don't need the XP key or CD to satisfy the installer, they are only good to keep your conscience clear. As long as you believe your previous license to be currently unused and transferable to the Mac, go for it!

So it doesn't check for previous copies of Windows or ask for the disk to be inserted? All I have is the XP box, manual and product key - the disc is lost somewhere...

Thanks for helping! :D

Nope. Much to Microsoft's saying otherwise pre-release, the work arounds are trivial.
