upgrading unlocked 2G phone via iTunes?

I've got an 2G iphone with FW 2.1, which I have installed using Pwnage under Mac OS X 10.5.
Right now, I've got OS X 10.5.6 and iTunes 8.0.2.

NOw, someone told me that in this case I can just click the "upgrade" button in iTunes to install FW 2.2 on my iPhone, and it would still be unlocked!

Can someone please confirm this info?

it will stay unlocked, but you will lose the jailbreak.
