Can you please help with some specifics on switching carriers with a subsidized Iphone 6 from Verizon (eligible for upgrade as of early Sept.) but before contract end date of Sept. 23 and how to navigate activation (yes or no) and the ETF fee and/or return policy?

We like Verizon in many respects but just happen to live in a relative dead spot, and especially have concerns where it drops off considerably near my son's school. Also ATT has better HSPA speeds in many areas where Verizon slows to 3G.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this situation or know specifics of switching? I've read conflicting information.

Our original contract end date with Verizon is/was Sept. 23. prior to the iPhone 6 preorder. Was eligible for subsidized upgrade to iPhone 6, before this. iPhone 6 is now on the way with tracking.

Do I activate this with Verizon first then go to ATT later? Or don't activate with Verizon just activate with ATT? Does when I do any of this matter for ETF?

Does the new contract date start when I activate the new phone on Verizon, or on some date before delivery?

I'm assuming that either activating with Verizon or not, will trigger an ETF when I port number over.

If the phone is not activated on Verizon, and I port the number on the line before Sept. 23, will I have an ETF fee based on the upgraded phone at $350 or a lower ETF of about $100 since I am in the last month of contract?

Will activation on ATT of the phone, regardless of doing a port, trigger an automatic cancellation on Verizon.

I've encountered people saying that you have to use the phone at least 14 days before canceling with Verizon, otherwise you have to return the phone? Why? I don't see this in the terms and would assume there are situations in which it doesn't meet the condition for a return (no box, etc.).

What triggers the ETF if activation itself doesn't?

If I do decide to return the phone in the first 3 days I get the activation fee back, and just pay restocking fee?

I may just take the easy route and return the phone to Verizon with the restocking fee.

Or I may just wait 14 days, cancel, pay ETF and sell the unlocked phone.

With Verizon's iPhone 6 upgrade you get charged an upgrade fee and an activation fee on the upgrade. With ATT NEXT, new line of service, none of these fees applies, you get 0 percent financing, and $100 credit.

If you know any specifics on this stuff, I'd be very grateful. I'm sure that it helps those switching over to Tmobile as well. Thank you in advance.
