upgrading with jailbroken iPhone. Problem?

I plan on going to the AT&T store on broadway in NYC to upgrade to the iPhone 3g yet I won't have the opportunity to restore my iPhone. Would it be an issue if I go there with my current iPhone, jailbroken? From what I read, in order to upgrade I must bring my 2g iPhone with me.

shouldn't be I dont think they say lemme see if your phones is jailbroken... yep it is that will be 499.99
