I've been trying to upload photos to my new thread in the iPhone Accessories forum, but whenever I try, the Manage Attachments window says this:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 368193 bytes) in /home/forums/public_html/includes/class_image.php on line 2408

The file sizes of my photos are all under the maximum allowable for the file type.

What's up with that?

I did a test to see if there was some issue adding a pic to the thread itself, and I was able to add a pic. So, IDK what the problem is. When do you get that message (before or after the upload or when you try to add it to the thread)?

Is there a limit on attachments? I don't see one, but maybe you have exceeded an unpublished or software limit.

^^^ I addressed the file size issue in my first post. They are all under 1.14 MB.

It's still happening. Weird....

^^^ It happens when I try to only upload one photo as well.

I tried uploading one of the photos to this thread, and still happening.

What does it say under Attachments in your User CP?

^^^^^ My bad, I didn't know what you were referring to.

It says:

You are currently using 91.44 MB to store 236 uploaded attachments.

It doesn't say that I've reached a limit, or if there is a limit. 91.44 would be a strange limit.

Yeah, I'm not sure, either ...

Does logging out, clearing cookies and trying again do anything?

What about a different browser?

There is no limit on the total attachments for a user. It seems most likely that the problem is with these specific images, possibly with the way they were compressed or encoded. Are these photos from the same source as images you've previous uploaded, or is there something special about them? What file format are they?

I suggest that you try uploading a small test image, such as your avatar, to this thread, to confirm that your account and web browser have no problem with the upload mechanism. You could also scale down one of your images and see if it uploads when its smaller, or save it in a different format, in case the problem is that the uncompressed image is overflowing or confusing the forum image library.

I thought that making a thread in this forum is the same as reporting to the mods.
We pay attention to both. Public feedback threads get public responses. We reply to "contact" forms privately. And we don't reply to post reports at all!

Thanks Doctor Q.

There was something wrong with the files I was trying to upload. I had to reduce the sizes of the originals prior to uploading, so I deleted those, and resized them again. It worked that time.

Too bad I deleted some photos from the forums in the process.

Thanks again.

Oh, when you said you couldn't add a pic to this thread, I thought you were talking "any" pic. I didn't know you were adding the same pics. Otherwise, I might not have suggested deleting pics. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm not sure why you thought that. I never said anything about other photos.

Don't worry about it though, I appreciated the help.
